Benefit for Emory Valley Center - May 11, 2012

Bar-B-Q and Boys' Night Out! Join us for a benefit for the Emory Valley Center on Friday, May 11, from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM at Buddy's Banquet Hall, 5806 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN. Tickets $15 in advance, or $20 at the door. Advance tickets are available from www.emoryvalleycenter.com. Price includes a Bar-B-Q dinner and beverage. There will be a cash bar, with beer at $2.50, or $10 for a pitcher.

The Emory Valley Center serves 140 mentally, physically, and emotionally disabled (autistic) adults and approximately 450 developmentally delayed toddlers and children from a 13-county area of East Tennessee in a variety of excellent programs. Plans are underway to build a new Center on Emory Valley Road in Oak Ridge. Many clients have been at the Emory Valley Center or at Daniel Arthur Rehabilitation Center most of their lives and are dependent on the Center for their entire support. It serves the most vulnerable members of society who cannot help themselves. Come support the Center and have a fabulous night of Beach Music!

Celebrate Halloween with Boys' Night Out! We're playing for Alive After Five at the Knoxville Museum of Art on Friday, October 28, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Come as you are, or dress up as your favorite character.

Alive After Five features free parking, non-smoking, casually elegant atmosphere, 2 cash bars, delicious food, family friendly, and great for a date! Food to be provided by F.A.T.S. BBQ.

Alive After Five is “taking it to the next level!” On the 3rd floor balcony and terrace, you can enjoy the music of Boys' Night Out at a softer, more conversational level. The Maryville Alcoa Daily Times is running an article on Boys' Night Out in tomorrow's edition. You can read it on their web site now. Don't forget, BNO is playing at the Capitol Theater in Maryville tomorrow (Friday) night! Doors open at 7:00 PM, the band starts at 8:00. We'd love to see you there. There's a benefit show Wednesday night for our friend and fellow performer, Clifford Curry. Clifford has recently been quite ill and is still unable to work. "My Tennessee", BNO's new CD, is now available!

"My Tennessee" is the latest release from C. Vaughn Leslie & Boys' Night Out. The two-song CD represents something of a departure from their usual work, but it still has the unique soul/R&B sound that has made this band a favorite for more than 27 years.

The title song, "My Tennessee", was originally written by John Bean, who you may know as the star of the infamous "Whoop A**" tapes that have "gone viral" around the world. You won't hear that kind of language here, however. "My Tennessee" is a beautiful and sensitive ode to the state we love so much, given the special "Boys' Night Out" treatment, with additional lyrics by C. Vaughn Leslie. If it doesn't put tears in your eyes and a lump in your throat, then you must be from somewhere else.

"Coach Pearl is the Best in the World" was written by Knoxville's own Clifford Curry, famous for such Carolina Beach Music hits as "She Shot a Hole in My Soul" and "Baby Won't You Shag With Me". This time, Clifford turns his writing and vocal talents to the exaltation of Coach Bruce Pearl, who leads the University of Tennessee Vols men's basketball team to victory on the court. Clifford sings Coach Pearl's praises and explains exactly why he is the best in the world. With the backing of the Boys' Night Out horn and rhythm sections, this song will keep you on your feet with your toes tapping!
